Assistance available for propane, fuel supply refilling

Residents who need to replenish propane, wood pellet, or other fuel supplies may be eligible for help through the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Winter Crisis Program.

The program helps income-eligible households in Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood County with refilling household fuel supplies that are running low (25% supply or less). The program also helps residents who are at risk of a utility shut-off or have disconnected utilities.

To qualify, residents must be at or below 175 percent of federal poverty guidelines (e.g. $23,783 annual income/household of one; $48,563 annual income/family of four). Applicants must also provide a list of all household members, including social security numbers and birthdates; proof of citizenship for all household members; proof of income for all household members for the previous 30 days or 12 months; and copies of recent utility bills.

For more information on the Winter Crisis Program or to schedule for assistance, visit www.glcap.org/winterheating or call our scheduling hotline at 567-432-5046.

GLCAP will be closed Dec. 25 and Dec 26 in recognition of Christmas and Jan. 1, 2024, in recognition of New Year’s Day.

Emergency winter heating assistance through EHEAP is available through March 31, 2024.
