Jordan Family Development Center hosts successful baby shower for new mothers

Last week, the Jordan Family Development Center in Bowling Green welcomed new mothers to a baby shower event aimed at providing essential support and resources. Sponsored by Anthem BCBS Medicaid of Ohio with the help of Tamara Donley, Community Relations Rep. Toledo Region, the event brought together representatives from various local health and family services, including the Women, Infants, and Children program (WIC), the Wood County Health Department, the Toledo Lucas County Health Department, and the Family and Children First Council.

Attendees were treated to lunch and had the opportunity to win door prizes and participate in giveaways. They received valuable information on topics such as crib safety and safe sleep practices, breastfeeding tips, and car seat safety.

The initiative was organized by Family Advocate Lynn Wyant, who recognized the need within the community.

"This is for my Head Start families," Wyant explained. "I have been working with Tamara from Anthem for the past year.  She has been a huge asset to Head Start and has been so helpful in providing tools and resources to our families.  Depending on how many expectant mothers I have each year will determine if we host another one, but just this year I have 15 new moms that could use these resources. That's why I decided to do this."
