Open house slated for Fremont Head Start program

The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Stricker Family Development Center in Fremont will host an open house Aug. 16 for all families interested in Head Start/Early Head Start preschool and childcare services.

The open house takes place 10 a.m.-noon and 1:30-4 p.m. The center is located at 765 S. Buchanan St.

GLCAP Head Start and Early Head Start programs offer no-cost, full-day preschool and childcare for eligible families. Children are provided with meals and snacks, medical and dental screenings, socialization, and other services.

While eligibility is based on federal poverty guidelines, program staff will look at each family’s situation and assist them in finding the best option for their family’s circumstances. Families receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, as well as children in foster care or identified as homeless are also eligible, regardless of income. Children with disabilities are welcome and accommodated at all centers. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to call for details.

More information is available at www.glcap.org/earlyheadstart or www.glcap.org/headstart, or by calling the center at 419-334-8511.
