Preschool opportunities available for farming families through Migrant & Seasonal Head Start

The Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) program through Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) has expanded eligibility opportunities for families with children ages birth-5.

Families are now eligible for MSHS services if one family member’s income comes primarily (50% or more) from agricultural employment such as harvesting, raising livestock, processing, and other agriculture-related work. There is no maximum income cap for eligibility—all children are eligible, so long as one family member has income that comes predominantly from an agriculture field. The expansion of eligibility requirements will allow for wider access to early education for farming families in GLCAP’s service region.

MSHS provides no-cost, full-day early education services for children ages birth-5, focusing on school readiness, socialization, and other important developmental needs.

GLCAP MSHS centers are located throughout Ohio in Fremont, Napoleon, New Carlisle, and Shiloh.
